Be the Star of Your Own Show

Imagine that you have been given the opportunity to be the star of your own television show. Is it a comedy, mystery, drama? Is your show something other people would watch? It is so easy to get in a rut. We do the same things out of habit instead of doing them because they add value to our lives. An example of this for me would be on HGTV on Tuesday afternoons is a Fixer Upper marathon. If I am at home I turn it on and see what Chip and Joanna are up to. Guess what? They are up to the same thing they were up to the last 10 times I saw these same episodes. I love their style. I love the part of the show where she styles the house to get it ready for the big reveal. I always think, oooh! I loooove that! I could do that! The episode ends with a happy, happy family. Then I begin watching the next episode with maybe a bathroom or snack break in between. Well guess what? I am watching...

What are the Best Things about Being Over 50?

“Are you tired, run down, and listless? Do you poop out at parties? Are you unpopular? The answer is in this little bottle. Vitameatavegamin.” Remember this I Love Lucy episode? Those are the only parts of being over 50 that stink. Some of the most liberating aspects of being over 50 are well, who doesn’t need an AARP membership? You can get discounts and I am not too proud to use mine for hotel reservations. Also, after 50, you actually see the benefits of being in Triple A Car Club. Did you know it will pay for itself with the benefits and discounts for hotels, car rentals, etc. Another benefit of being over 50 is not feeling guilty about saying “No” to anything you don’t want to do. Removing words from sentences like, “I ought to”, I need to”, and “I should” is liberating. Once you are over 50 you know why you can eliminate these from your vocabulary. If I had been born in the late 1800’s

One of my Facebook friends posted a Which Character on Little House on the Prairie Would You Be quiz. I took the quiz and I got Miss. Beadle, the teacher. I had to laugh at that because this past May my husband, daughter, and I visited Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN. They had a Frontier Village set up like a small town. It had a Little House on the Prairie vibe to it and was so interesting. There was a general store, a doctor’s office, blacksmith shop, a grist mill, and houses. All of these buildings were fully furnished with period furniture and props. There was a schoolhouse, too. I took one step into the schoolhouse and although the windows were open it was hot as blue blazes in there. I told my daughter that there was no way that I could learn one single thing in that hot box. Now that I have taken the quiz and found out that I am Miss Beadle I have to laugh because...
